PACE, which stands for Property Assessed Clean Energy, represents a multi-billion dollar opportunity for New Jersey. New Jersey already has PACE legislation, but with deficiencies that need to be corrected before the program can be implemented effectively. Amending legislation to facilitate PACE, and extend it to cover resiliency improvement such as hurricane- and flood-proofing, has been in the works for nearly three years, and was passed by overwhelming majorities in both houses of the NJ legislature this past June. On November 9, the Christie Administration issued a conditional veto that would have made the program even less viable than before.
While we’re still looking at the options available to get an effective program approved, we are more than ever convinced that PACE will come to New Jersey in the not-too-distant future. Our December 15 webinar will discuss this future, and what we can do in the meantime to get more projects financed and moving forward. Entitled “The Future of PACE in New Jersey,” the webinar will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, 11 a.m. – Noon.
